Finance and Payouts
mavi pay processes all payments through Stripe and pays out your earnings via Stripe Connect. This page covers how payouts work, when you get paid, and how to track your revenue.
Stripe Connect
When you create your mavi pay merchant account, you are guided through Stripe Connect onboarding. This links your Stripe account to mavi pay so that funds can be routed to your bank account automatically.
If you do not have a Stripe account, one will be created for you during onboarding. Stripe Connect is required to receive payouts.
How Payouts Work
- A customer pays for your product via checkout.
- Stripe processes the payment and holds the funds.
- mavi pay deducts the 2% platform fee from the transaction amount.
- Stripe deducts its own processing fees (typically 1.5% + EUR 0.25 for European cards).
- The remaining amount is added to your Stripe balance.
- Stripe transfers your balance to your linked bank account on the payout schedule.
Fee Breakdown Example
For a EUR 100 sale:
| Item | Amount |
|---|
| Customer pays | EUR 100.00 |
| Stripe processing fee (1.5% + EUR 0.25) | - EUR 1.75 |
| mavi pay platform fee (2%) | - EUR 2.00 |
| You receive | EUR 96.25 |
Stripe fees vary by card type and region. The example above uses standard European card rates. Check the Stripe pricing page for exact rates in your region.
Payout Schedule
Payout timing is controlled by Stripe and depends on your account region and history:
| Region | Standard payout timing |
|---|
| EU (SEPA) | 2 business days (rolling) |
| UK | 2 business days (rolling) |
| US | 2 business days (rolling) |
New Stripe accounts may have a longer initial payout delay (typically 7--14 days) while Stripe verifies your account. After the initial period, payouts follow the standard rolling schedule.
You can configure your payout schedule in Stripe to be daily, weekly, or monthly.

Export your data as CSV for accounting and tax reporting.
Tax Handling
mavi pay is a self-hosted platform. As the merchant, you are the merchant of record. This means:
- You are responsible for collecting and remitting VAT/tax in jurisdictions where it applies.
- mavi pay does not automatically calculate, collect, or remit VAT on your behalf.
- Recommendation: Enable Stripe Tax in your Stripe dashboard to automatically calculate and collect VAT based on your customer's location. Stripe Tax supports EU VAT, UK VAT, US sales tax, and many other jurisdictions.
What mavi pay Provides
- Order records with customer email, country (based on payment method), and amounts.
- CSV exports of all transactions for your tax filings.
- Invoice generation with your business details.
What You Handle
- VAT registration in relevant jurisdictions.
- Tax calculation (or delegation to Stripe Tax).
- Filing and remitting collected taxes to the appropriate authorities.
If you are based in the EU and sell to EU consumers, you are subject to EU VAT rules. Consult an accountant or use Stripe Tax for automated compliance.
Refunds
You can issue full or partial refunds from the dashboard or via the API:
- Navigate to Orders in the dashboard, select the order, and click Refund.
- Refunds are processed through Stripe and returned to the customer's original payment method.
- mavi pay's 2% platform fee is not refunded. Stripe's processing fee may or may not be refunded depending on your Stripe account settings.
- Benefits attached to the refunded order are revoked automatically.
